Bethlehem-Kirche, Lutheran church in Friedrichsort, Kiel, Germany
The Bethlehem Church is a timber-frame building with wooden cladding and a small bell tower located in Kiel-Friedrichsort. Inside, the structure contains an altar positioned on the west side.
This building was constructed in 1875 as a garrison church for Prussian troops, replacing an older chapel from the fortress. The wooden structure succeeded the deteriorating predecessor on the same grounds.
The church serves as a gathering place for concerts and community events that shape local life in the neighborhood. Regular activities keep the wooden building active and connected to those who live nearby.
The church is located at Möhrkestraße 9 in Kiel-Friedrichsort and is accessible by public transport. Check ahead for event schedules, as opening times vary depending on concerts and gatherings.
This is the only wooden church building constructed after 1870 in the entire Schleswig-Holstein region. Its survival as a wooden structure for more than a century makes it a remarkable survivor from that era.
