Rheinbrücke Rees-Kalkar, Cable-stayed bridge in Rees, Germany

The Rheinbrücke Rees-Kalkar stretches 982.5 meters across the Rhine River, supported by four slender pylons that rise 46 meters above the water.

The construction of this bridge started in 1965 and concluded in December 1967, with an investment of 23 million Deutsche Mark.

The bridge design by Hellmut Homberg integrates German engineering principles with steel and concrete materials to form an efficient transportation link.

Two vehicle lanes and pedestrian walkways connect the municipalities of Rees and Kalkar, maintaining a clearance height of 9.1 meters for river traffic.

The bridge foundations extend seven meters beneath the riverbed through caissons, while the main span measures 255 meters between its central pylons.
