Trappenkamp, Naturerlebnisraum Erlebniswald, Wildlife and theme park in Daldorf, Germany
Erlebniswald Trappenkamp is a nature and wildlife park in the German state of Schleswig-Holstein, combining animal enclosures, play areas, and outdoor learning stations within a forested setting. The grounds are crossed by a network of marked paths that guide visitors through the different sections of the park.
The site was developed in the 1970s as part of a growing interest in outdoor nature education across Germany. Over the following decades, new enclosures and activity areas were gradually added to what had started as a modest woodland trail.
The park is a popular destination for school groups from the region, who come to observe animals up close and learn about woodland plants. The information stations along the paths explain local wildlife in plain language, making the visit easy to follow for all ages.
The paths vary in length and terrain, so visitors can choose a route that fits their energy and available time. Sturdy shoes are a good idea, as some sections can become muddy after rain.
A wooden observation tower built from locally sourced timber rises above the tree canopy and gives visitors a view that is hard to get at ground level. From the top, the different zones of the park become visible as distinct patches of forest and open ground.
