Windmühle Straupitz

The Windmühle Straupitz combines three distinct milling operations: a grain mill, an oil press, and a horizontal sawmill within its brick structure.

Built in 1850 to replace an earlier wooden structure from 1640, the windmill underwent significant modifications including the addition of a sawmill in 1885.

The facility maintains traditional German milling methods, particularly in the production of Spreewaldgold linseed oil using century-old techniques and equipment.

The windmill operates different schedules throughout the year, with extended hours from July to August and reduced hours during the winter months.

The structure remains the sole functioning triple-purpose windmill in Europe, processing grain, pressing oil, and cutting wood using traditional mechanisms.
