Heine-Park, Public park in Ottensen, Germany
Heine-Park stretches along the northern bank of the Elbe with mature trees, rhododendrons, azaleas, and multiple walking paths throughout. The grounds include open lawns for sitting and are connected to the neighboring Donners Park by a pedestrian bridge.
Banker Salomon Heine acquired the property in 1808 from the heirs of John Blacker. A gardener's house built in 1832 was later granted heritage protection and remains a key structure on the grounds.
The landscaping follows English garden design with carefully planned pathways and viewpoints overlooking the harbor and river. Walking through the grounds, you notice how the plants and sitting areas are arranged to guide your views and create moments of quiet.
The grounds feature a playground, viewing platforms, and modern recreational facilities for different visitors. Well-maintained paths provide easy access to most areas of the park.
The Plangesche Villa on the grounds underwent major renovation in 2010 and now serves as the headquarters of the Business Club Hamburg. This building represents private architecture from the park's founding era.
