Islinger Feld, Agricultural field in Regensburg, Germany
Islinger Feld is an agricultural area spanning roughly 55 hectares south of the A3 motorway, positioned between the districts of Oberisling and Burgweinting in Regensburg. The site features a tall steel and wooden cross as its focal point and is laid out to accommodate gatherings.
The field hosted a major papal event in September 2006 when Pope Benedict XVI celebrated a mass attended by around 230,000 people. This visit became a defining moment for the region's Catholic community and left a lasting mark on its spiritual landscape.
The field serves as a gathering place within the Diocese of Regensburg for prayer and religious observance. Visitors can experience an active role for faith-based community events that draw local and regional participants.
The area is easily accessible from the A3 motorway and features open spaces with level walkways suitable for visitors on foot. When visiting during events, it helps to arrive early as parking and access points can become limited.
The 16-meter tall cross made of steel and wood is the site's most visible landmark and can be spotted from considerable distances. An adjacent park space of approximately 7,300 square meters was designed to extend areas for visitors to move through and observe.
