Lönsgrab, Nature reserve in Walsrode, Germany.
Lönsgrab is a nature reserve spanning approximately 14 hectares with juniper stands and characteristic heath landscapes. The terrain displays open areas and scattered woody growth typical of the Lüneburg Heath region.
The site received initial protection through an ordinance in 1951 and gained its formal nature reserve status in 1967. This designation aimed to preserve the unique heath landscapes of Lower Saxony.
A large glacial boulder marks the burial site of Hermann Löns, a writer and journalist who captured the Lüneburg Heath in his work. The place connects his grave with the heath landscape he cherished and documented throughout his life.
The area features several walking paths clearly marked with signs for visitor guidance. To protect the natural environment, visitors should stay on designated routes and avoid stepping on surrounding vegetation.
This reserve forms part of the larger FFH conservation network No. 077 Böhme, connecting with other heath areas in the region. Visitors can observe how nature protection efforts link multiple reserves into a broader ecological system.
