St.-Petri-Pauli-Kirche, Gothic church in Lutherstadt Eisleben, Germany
St.-Petri-Pauli-Kirche is a Gothic church building with three aisles, a polygonal choir on the east side, and a square west tower. The tower rises approximately 54 meters and defines the skyline of Lutherstadt Eisleben.
The site played an important role in religious history when a significant moment of the German Reformation took place here. The church itself developed over centuries and underwent several renovations, most recently in a major restoration in 2012.
The church takes its name from two apostles and stands at the heart of the town as a gathering place for the community. Today, visitors experience the space as a center dedicated to understanding baptismal practices and religious traditions that have shaped life here for centuries.
Visitors should note that the church is open during weekday daytime hours and visitors can explore the interior at their own pace. Guided tours with additional information are available if arranged in advance.
The tower houses bells from the late 15th and early 16th centuries, a system of three parts that began to ring again after extensive restoration work. This bell set is among the oldest of its kind in the region.
