Stadtkirche St. Andreas Teltow, Lutheran church in Teltow, Germany
Stadtkirche St. Andreas is a church building with a prominent tower topped by a decorative spire. The structure shows a mix of different building styles that emerged from repeated reconstructions after fires.
The building originally arose around 1230 from fieldstone and was rebuilt repeatedly after several city fires. These repeated reconstructions shaped its appearance over the centuries.
The name comes from Saint Andrew, the church's patron, whose story is reflected in local religious tradition. Inside, you find wooden carvings made by a local sculptor and colorful glass windows that fill the space with light.
The building underwent extensive exterior renovations between 2006 and 2011, with special work on the tower and bell system. Access is usually possible, but it is good to check opening times beforehand.
The old iron bells were replaced by three new bronze bells and now stand as exhibits in the outdoor area behind the building. This unusual display tells the story of craftsmanship and change in the place.
