Heinrich-Laehr-Park, Public park in Zehlendorf, Germany
Heinrich-Laehr-Park is a public green space in Berlin's Steglitz-Zehlendorf district featuring walking paths, grass areas, and multiple play zones for different ages. The grounds include climbing nets, swings, play structures with slides, trampolines, and table tennis tables distributed throughout.
The grounds were established in 1853 as one of Berlin's early public green spaces in southwestern residential districts. The site has shaped the area's development as an important space for recreation and outdoor activity since then.
The design of the park's new playground facilities in 2024 incorporated direct input from 103 local children through organized workshops and surveys.
The park is easy to reach on foot and features wide paths suitable for strollers and wheelchairs. The different play areas are clearly marked, allowing visitors to quickly locate zones that match their interests.
When designing the new play areas in 2024, planners worked directly with around 100 children from the neighborhood who shared their wishes and ideas. This input shaped the layout so that it specifically meets the needs of younger and older users.
