McNair Barracks spans across a large area featuring military buildings constructed with traditional German architectural elements of the 1930s period.
The barracks were established in 1945 when US forces converted the former Telefunken electronics factory, which had produced radar systems during World War II.
The McNair Museum within the complex displays military artifacts, uniforms, and documents chronicling the history of American forces in divided Berlin.
The barracks compound includes residential buildings, administration offices, dining facilities, and recreational spaces accessible through guided tours.
Every July 4th since 1995, veterans of the Berlin Brigade gather at McNair Barracks to commemorate their service and maintain connections.
