Schwarzerberg

Schwarzerberg is an isolated hill on the Nauen Plateau that rises about 89 meters above the surrounding landscape and is mainly covered with pine forests. Its northwestern slopes are densely wooded, while the surrounding area includes open farmland and smaller elevations like Fohrder Berg and Gallberg.

In the 19th century, archaeologists discovered a Late Bronze Age burial site on the hill with nine graves containing bronze objects and decorative items. This discovery shows that the location served as an important burial ground thousands of years ago.

The hill sits within a protected landscape area where local forestry traditions have shaped how people interact with the land for generations. This ongoing relationship between inhabitants and the terrain remains visible in how the area is managed and experienced today.

The hill is easily reached by several hiking trails that connect it to neighboring elevations in the surrounding parkland. The paths are generally well marked, and the area is suitable for walking and exploring the forest landscape throughout the year.

The hill is a terminal moraine from the Brandenburg Phase of the Weichsel glaciation, showing clear ridges that mark ancient ice margin positions. This geological formation is protected today to preserve its importance for future geological research and understanding.
