Wasserhochbehälter

The Wasserhochbehälter is an elevated water storage tank in Linden-Limmer built from reinforced concrete and red brick that rises well above the surrounding buildings. Its bold geometric shape and sturdy construction are visible from throughout the neighborhood.

The tower was built between 1917 and 1918 to supply water to the growing city and remained in operation until 2013. Its construction coincided with a period when Hannover was rapidly modernizing its infrastructure.

This structure shaped the neighborhood's character and shows how Hannover provided modern water services to its residents. The building reflects the city's pride in its technical capabilities.

The tower is centrally located in Linden-Limmer and is easily accessible by foot or public transport. Since the site is not open to the public, the architecture is best viewed from the outside.

Its construction was revolutionary for the time, as it was built entirely from reinforced concrete, a technique rarely used then. This early application made it a pioneering example of modern building methods in Germany.
