Hans-Fallada-Haus

Hans-Fallada-Haus is a timber-framed building with nine rooms in Carwitz in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. The rooms display original furnishings and exhibits that document the life and works of the German writer.

Writer Hans Fallada moved into this house in 1933 and lived there until 1944. After his death, the residence opened as a museum in 1995 to preserve his literary legacy.

The house is named after writer Hans Fallada, who lived and worked here during the 1930s and 1940s. Visitors can see how the author shaped his daily life and which spaces inspired his writing.

The museum is open Tuesday through Sunday and offers guided tours, audio guides, and facilities for researchers. Visitors should note that parts of the grounds are outdoors and may become wet during rain.

The grounds preserve Fallada's original apiary, a boathouse, and a triangular garden bed by the lakeshore. These spaces show how the author spent his time between writing and living close to nature.
