Burg Burgberg

The stone fortress stands on a hill overlooking the Allgäu region, featuring five distinct courtyards connected by a network of corridors and passages.

During the Late Middle Ages between 1250 and 1500, the castle functioned as a secondary residence for the House of Wittelsbach, storing precious metals and valuables.

The castle incorporates Gothic architectural elements throughout its structure, with modifications made during various periods reflecting regional building traditions.

The castle complex extends one kilometer in length, making it necessary for visitors to plan several hours for a complete exploration of the grounds.

The fortification system includes multiple gatehouses and towers positioned strategically along the curtain wall, which remains substantially intact to this day.
