Kottmar ski jumping hills, architectural structure

Kottmar ski jumping hills are ski jumping hills in Saxony, Germany, built primarily from wood. The site contains three separate hills of varying sizes designed to accommodate jumpers at different skill levels.

The first jumps took place on a small slope during the 1930s. The present complex was constructed in the 1960s, with the first major competition held in December 1968.

The name references the mountain nearby where these hills were built. The wooden structures have become a symbol of the region's ski jumping heritage and remain central to local sporting pride.

The site is easily accessible near the town of Walddorf on Auf dem Kottmar street, surrounded by green forests. The hills are used year-round, with summer competitions on special mats and winter activities when snow is available.

The hills are constructed from wood, a traditional building material that gives the site a rustic character while preserving historic construction methods. Special plastic mats are laid in summer to allow competitions when snow is absent.
