Marienborg, Official residence in Lyngby-Taarbæk Municipality, Denmark

Marienborg is a mansion set on a hilltop near Bagsværd Lake, featuring white exterior walls and design elements from 18th-century Danish architecture. The grounds include landscaped gardens and classical features that have been maintained over the centuries.

The mansion was built in 1745 for a naval officer and initially served as a private family residence. It became the official Prime Minister's residence in 1962 after being donated to the state.

The residence serves as a setting for major state events and is closely tied to the Prime Minister's public role in Danish society. Visitors can sense its importance through the formal events held there and its connection to national moments shared with the public.

The estate sits about 15 kilometers north of Copenhagen and is accessible by public transport. While an official building with limited access, visitors can view the exterior and surrounding grounds from nearby public pathways.

In 2018 the interior underwent extensive modernization with contemporary furnishings and updated systems while preserving its classical architectural details. This blend of old and new shows how a historic structure can be adapted for present-day use while respecting its heritage.
