Aldershvile, Protected ancient monument ruins in Bagsværd, Denmark.
Aldershvile is a brick ruin with sandstone details located in Gladsaxe Municipality's public park near Bagsværd Lake. The structure displays granite basement walls and perimeter walls that rise to their original roof height.
A mansion was built here in 1782 for a senior official in the Danish Postal Services. A fire destroyed the house in 1909 when it was owned by a countess.
The remains reflect how wealthy Danes of the 1700s chose to build country estates in this area outside Copenhagen. The design shows the tastes of property owners who wanted spacious homes where they could entertain and enjoy suburban living.
The ruins are located in a freely accessible park where you can walk around and explore the site at your own pace. The surrounding area has walking paths and open spaces, making it easy to spend time here while enjoying the lakeside setting.
A gravestone of Angelica Evans rests in a niche on the northeastern wall of the ruins, originally from Frederiksberg Cemetery. This stone was moved here, creating an unexpected link between the house and this individual.
