Frederiksberg Church, Lutheran church in Frederiksberg, Denmark
Frederiksberg Church is a Lutheran church in Frederiksberg, Denmark. It has an octagonal shape with a dark roof, a central tower with a spire, and walls partly covered in ivy and partly in red brick.
The current church was completed in 1734, replacing an earlier wooden church that burned down in 1658. It was designed by Felix Dusart and has been renovated several times, including the addition of a porch in 1865.
The church is a gathering place for the local Lutheran community, and its interior features a unique combined altar and pulpit. The upper gallery was originally reserved for servants, reflecting old social customs.
The church is located at Frederiksberg Runddel, near the entrance to Frederiksberg Gardens. It is open to visitors during the day, but photography inside is not allowed.
The church has no traditional tower; instead, a lantern with a spire on the roof houses the bells. The altar candlesticks are from the first church on the site, and the organ still has its original baroque facade.
