Alhambra - Museum for humor og satire, Humor and satire museum in Frederiksberg, Copenhagen, Denmark.
The Alhambra museum was a cultural institution in Frederiksberg dedicated to collecting and presenting comedy materials and entertainment media. It displayed costumes, props, film clips, and housed a substantial collection of phonograph records documenting Danish comedy performances.
The institution was founded in 1993 and occupied Riises Landsted, a building from 1860 located on Allégade street. It ceased independent operation in 2021 when its collection merged with STORM under the Frederiksbergmuseerne organization.
The museum documents the development of Danish revue culture and shows how comedy and satire appeared in various formats across different media. Visitors see costumes, props, and learn how these art forms shaped entertainment life.
The museum occupied a historic building on Allégade street that was part of the Frederiksbergmuseerne network and accessible by public transportation. Visitors should note that the museum no longer operates independently and its collection is now integrated into the STORM project.
The collection included over 4000 phonograph records, one of Denmark's largest sources of audio recordings of comedy and revue performances. These recordings preserve voices and live performances that are otherwise difficult to access and now form part of the STORM archive.
