The Renaissance Revival manor house stands on the southern shore of Maribo Lakes, featuring a two-storey whitewashed structure with Flammish gables and a tower.

Founded in the middle of the 16th century by Morten Venstermand, the current main building dates from 1804 and underwent architectural modifications during the 19th century.

The Bertouch family transformed the estate into a meeting place for artists and writers who gathered during summer months in the early 19th century.

The estate covers 937 hectares of land and includes a Baroque-style garden that remains open for public visits throughout the year.

The property withstood damage from Swedish troops and underwent multiple transformations, including the demolition of older wings during the late 19th century renovations.
