Knuthenborg Safaripark, Safari park in Bandholm, Denmark
Knuthenborg Safaripark is a safari park in Lolland Municipality where visitors drive through in their own vehicles to observe over 1000 animals across different zones. The facility also includes a museum with dinosaur displays and a water park with multiple slides and attractions.
The site began as a private estate in 1860 and was later converted into a wildlife park. During the 1950s, sika deer were introduced, marking the start of the park's modern animal collection.
The park houses animals from different parts of the world living in habitats that resemble their natural homes. Visitors observe how the animals interact and gain understanding of their needs and behaviors.
Visitors can drive through in their own vehicles to watch the animals, while some areas require guided bus tours for safety. It helps to allow time for both types of experiences and to follow the park's guidelines during your visit.
The park provides homes for retired circus elephants and rescued lionesses from Ukraine in specially designed areas. These animals have found sanctuary after leaving difficult circumstances elsewhere.
