Bandholm Church, Church building in Bandholm, Denmark
Bandholm Church is a red brick structure built in a cruciform layout, with a chancel, nave, and a tower topped by a conical spire. The building features classical proportions and is distinguished by its colored windows on the east wall.
The church was built in 1874 by architect Henrik Steffens Sibbern after Count Knuth of Knuthenborg provided the land for its construction. Its creation marked the growth of the local parish during the late 19th century.
The east wall displays three stained-glass windows, with the central panel depicting the Last Supper instead of a traditional altarpiece.
The church operates under the Diocese of Lolland-Falster and serves the local Bandholm parish community. Visitors should keep in mind that the building is actively used for regular services and special occasions such as weddings and baptisms.
The building houses a Busch organ that was restored by Starup & Søn in 1974, preserving its musical quality for ongoing use. This instrument continues to enhance both worship services and occasional performances held within the church.
