Egekilde, Mineral water from South Zealand, Denmark

Egekilde is mineral water from an underground spring in a forest near Faxe in South Zealand. The water flows through calcareous soil layers and is bottled in different varieties for distribution.

The spring was developed in 1999 in the forest area and later created as a mineral water product by Royal Unibrew for the Danish market. The company launched it in 2006, replacing other mineral water brands previously sold in the country.

The name Egekilde refers to the spring in Gammel Dyrehave forest, where water emerges from natural underground sources. Visitors can trace the connection between this woodland location and the product found in shops throughout the country.

The water is available in shops throughout the country and comes in different sizes and varieties. Visitors can easily find the product in most Danish supermarkets and smaller stores.

The spring is connected through a system that also supplies water to local communities. The extraction point is over 80 meters deep, showing the considerable depth from which the water is drawn.
