Store Kannikestræde 6, Historic building in Old Town Copenhagen, Denmark.
Store Kannikestræde 6 presents a three-story brick structure displaying traditional 18th-century Danish architectural elements with symmetrical window arrangements and a distinctive green-painted entrance gate featuring a fanlight above the door.
Constructed around 1737 following the devastating Copenhagen Fire of 1728, this building replaced the original Kanslergården mansion and was part of the extensive urban reconstruction effort that reshaped the city's Old Town during the mid-18th century.
The building has served as residence for various merchants, craftsmen, bookdealers, and publishers throughout its history, reflecting the diverse professional community that characterized Copenhagen's Old Town during the 18th and 19th centuries.
Currently managed by E/F Store Kannikestræde 6, the building functions as residential condominiums in the front wing while the rear wings accommodate office spaces, maintaining its mixed-use character established centuries ago.
The structure features an unusual architectural evolution with its third story added in the 1790s and includes timber-framed rear wings alongside brick construction, representing different building techniques used during its development phases.
