La Faràndula, Public theatre in Sabadell
La Faràndula is a cultural building in Sabadell constructed in 1956 with support from private investors and built in eclectic architectural style. It features a large main hall with more than 1,100 seats distributed across a ground floor and two upper levels, designed to accommodate various types of performances.
The theater was founded in 1956 by the youth theater group La Joventut de la Faràndula, which began in 1947. The city of Sabadell took ownership in 1972 and conducted major renovations between 2000 and 2002 that significantly improved the stage equipment and infrastructure.
The theater originated from a community group dedicated to performing arts in the 1940s. Today it continues to serve as a gathering place where local audiences experience theater, dance, concerts, and opera productions together.
The building is easy to reach in central Sabadell and straightforward to locate. Visitors should check the programming in advance since different types of events are scheduled throughout the year.
Architects Arís and Vila Juanico created an eclectic design that blends multiple architectural styles into one coherent building. This combination of different period styles makes it visually distinctive and a recognizable landmark in the city's landscape.
