Feu's Tower, Eclectic castle in Sabadell, Spain.
Feu's Tower is a two-story stone castle with corner towers and a symmetrically designed facade. Neo-Gothic style windows and ornate decorative details give the structure its distinctive character.
The building arose during Sabadell's industrial expansion in the 19th century and replaced a medieval fortified house. That earlier structure once guarded the ancient Roman road Via Augusta.
The structure takes its name from a former owner and reflects through its eclectic facade the architectural tastes of Catalonia's industrial era. The mix of neo-Gothic elements and decorative details mirrors the wealth that textile manufacturing brought to the region.
The grounds can be viewed from outside and guided tours are offered regularly, making it easy to appreciate the architectural details. Public transportation connects the site well to the city center.
The industrialist Josep Nicolau d'Olzina commissioned this building and an identical castle called Torre del Riu in the north. The two structures share their architectural language and reveal the ambitions of wealthy Catalans of the era.
