Castle of Casasola

The Castle of Casasola rises on rocky terrain along the Tajuña River with a triangular layout and two circular towers at its front corners. The structure includes a small homage tower, additional buildings, and an inner courtyard garden that creates interior spaces.

The fortress was built in the 15th century as a defensive stronghold. It later served as a secret refuge for politicians and military figures supporting Alfonso XII.

The castle demonstrates medieval military design through its stone bridge entrance, double-arched moat, and hilltop position overlooking the valley. Visitors can still observe the defensive features that made this location important for protection and surveillance.

The site sits on remote land outside town and is best reached by car. Visitors should wear weather-appropriate clothing since the structure remains in ruins and exposed to the elements.

The fortress contains three distinct sections that together formed a complete defensive system. The inner courtyard served not only for air circulation but also as a refuge during sieges.
