Equestrian statue of Francisco Franco, Bronze equestrian statue in Ríos Rosas, Spain.
The bronze monument stands 7.5 meters tall, featuring Francisco Franco mounted on a horse, cast in 1956 by sculptor José Capuz.
The statue was inaugurated on July 18, 1959, near Nuevos Ministerios at Plaza de San Juan de la Cruz during Franco's regime in Spain.
The monument became a yearly gathering point every November 20 for supporters of Franco's ideology until its removal in March 2005.
The statue's former location at Plaza de San Juan de la Cruz remains accessible by public transportation through the Ríos Rosas metro station.
The design draws inspiration from Donatello's Gattamelata, though it was initially intended for placement atop the Arco de la Victoria.
