Château de Lantis

Château de Lantis is a restored fortified house in Dégagnac featuring two rectangular towers and interiors built in the late Gothic style. The building sits on an old trade route and displays architectural details typical of that period.

The building is first documented in 15th-century records and played a key role defending a nearby medieval town from attack. Over the religious wars that followed, it changed hands between opposing sides several times.

The castle shapes cultural life in the Quercy region through regular art exhibitions and performances that draw visitors throughout the year. Its rooms serve as venues for local artists and give guests a chance to see what the community creates.

Tours run from September through March and last about an hour with advance booking required. It is best to wear comfortable shoes since the rooms have uneven floors and stairs to climb.

The grounds were redesigned by a contemporary landscape designer and feature geometric patterns that echo gardens from the 1600s. These modern gardens offer a striking contrast to the medieval building behind them.
