Château de Nampont

Château de Nampont is a medieval fortification in Nampont with an octagonal layout surrounded by water-filled moats. The thick walls feature corner towers and arrow slits, while the gatehouse displays the original military construction techniques.

The structure was built in the 15th century as a defensive stronghold. Later, King Francis I visited in 1517 in connection with a significant state agreement.

The castle shows how French residential life evolved as it transformed from a military fortress into a noble dwelling. The rooms and courtyards tell the story of this shift over several centuries.

The grounds now host two golf courses stretching along the Authie River, with one running through wooded areas. The terrain is relatively open, making it accessible to different types of visitors.

The original octagonal well still stands in the courtyard and reveals the water supply systems of a medieval fortress. This element illustrates the daily life that existed within the defensive walls.
