Flamingo Land Resort is an amusement and animal park in rural North Yorkshire, combining more than forty rides with several enclosures. Paths wind through themed zones that link carousels, roller coasters and animal habitats at different points.
A cinema operator transformed an old country club into a leisure site with a zoo in 1959, giving it a new name. Decades later rides were added, further changing the offering.
The resort takes its name from a pink-hued lake that once existed on the grounds, colored by algae. Today families from across Yorkshire make regular weekend trips here, treating it as a familiar retreat.
