Ardvourlie Castle, Category B listed country house in Harris, Scotland.

Ardvourlie Castle is a three-story stone building in Harris with pitched slate roofs overlooking Loch Seaforth. The property sits on thirteen acres with young woodland, open hillside, rocks, and a jetty extending into the water.

The castle was built in 1863 as a hunting lodge for Charles Murray, the 7th Earl of Dunmore. It later passed to aircraft designer Thomas Sopwith and industrialist Lord Leverhulme, who shaped its development during their ownership.

The property reflects how Scottish estates evolved from private homes into destinations for hunting and leisure. The building's role as a retreat for wealthy visitors shaped the relationship between the structure and its surrounding landscape.

The castle sits roughly ten miles from Tarbert, making it accessible within the Harris landscape. The waterside location offers possibilities for outdoor activities and exploration of the surrounding grounds.

The grounds feature terraced lawns defined by stone walls and sandstone steps leading down to a winter pond. This pond attracts local wildlife and creates a natural focal point across the property.
