Glasgow Museum of Transport, Transport museum in Partick, Glasgow, Scotland
The Glasgow Museum of Transport is a transport museum in the Partick district, designed by Zaha Hadid with a modern zinc-clad exterior. The collection holds more than 3,000 objects related to transport and technology, spread across several floors near where the Kelvin meets the Clyde.
The first transport museum opened in 1964 at the former Coplawhill tram depot and moved to Kelvin Hall in 1988. In 2011, it relocated to the current riverside site with a newly built structure.
Visitors can walk through a recreated street showing how shops and buildings looked across different decades in the city. This setting connects transport history with everyday life in earlier generations.
The museum opens daily from 10 AM to 5 PM and charges no admission. Train and subway connections run nearby, and the entrance sits along Pointhouse Road by the waterfront.
Outside the building, the tall ship Glenlee lies at dock and welcomes visitors on board. The ship's decks and cargo holds add context to the exhibits on shipping and trade along the Clyde.
