Jarrow Hall, Anglo-Saxon museum and farm in Jarrow, England.
Jarrow Hall is a museum featuring reconstructed Anglo-Saxon buildings and a working farm spread across a large site. The complex displays period structures alongside exhibitions that illustrate daily life during this era.
The project began in 1993 as a center for researching and displaying Anglo-Saxon life and culture. After facing temporary difficulties, the site reopened in 2017 with renewed focus and updated branding.
The site takes its name from Saint Jarrow and remains deeply connected to the scholar Bede who lived here. Visitors can observe how the medieval community functioned through the reconstructed buildings and daily activities.
The site is accessible and family-friendly, with different areas to explore across the expansive grounds. Plan to spend several hours to see both the indoor displays and the historic structures and animals outside.
The animal area uses breeds and techniques reconstructed from archaeological evidence to show authentic living practices. Visitors can observe how people and animals actually lived and worked together in this period.
