The Churchill Theatre is a theatre building on High Street in Bromley, in the London Borough of Bromley. It has a main auditorium for musicals, dramas, comedy and dance, alongside the Churchill Studio, a smaller space for scaled-down productions.
The theatre opened on 19 July 1977 as a producing house in Bromley, intended from the start to stage its own shows alongside visiting productions. Over the following decades it established itself as a central part of the performing arts scene in southeast London.
The theatre sits on Bromley High Street and draws audiences from across southeast London for touring productions and local shows alike. The smaller studio space gives local and emerging artists a place to perform for more intimate crowds.
The venue is on Bromley High Street and easy to reach on foot from Bromley South station. It is worth arriving a few minutes early, as the main auditorium and the studio have separate entrances.
The Churchill Theatre is one of the few venues outside London's West End that develops and sends out its own productions on tour, rather than only receiving them. Some of these productions have gone on to play in the West End.
