Dunston Pillar, Grade II listed stone tower in Dunston, England

The stone tower stands 52 feet tall next to the A15 road, approximately six miles south of Lincoln near the B1178 junction.

Sir Francis Dashwood commissioned the construction of this tower in 1751 to guide travelers through dark heathland notorious for highway robberies.

The location transformed into a social center with a bowling green and dining hall, where the Lincoln Club organized regular entertainment events.

The tower remains visible from the A15 road but stands on private land, with the preserved bust of King George III now displayed at Lincoln Castle.

This structure served as England's only land lighthouse until 1808, featuring an octagonal lantern that guided travelers across dangerous terrain.
