The Dancehouse Theatre occupies a converted 1930s cinema building with 430 seats, combining preserved Art Deco features with modern theatrical facilities.
Built between 1929 and 1930 by Emmanuel Nove, the structure initially housed two meeting halls that became the Regal Twins cinema before transforming into Britain's first five-screen complex.
The Northern Ballet School operates within the building, providing professional dance education while maintaining an active performance schedule in the main theatre.
The 35,000-square-foot facility contains five dance studios, a green room, café bar, coffee shop, and sprung floor stage for diverse performances.
Princess Margaret inaugurated this Grade II listed building in 1994 after its £500,000 conversion from the world's first multiplex cinema to a dance education center.
