Nocton Priory, Medieval priory ruins in Nocton, Lincolnshire, United Kingdom.
Nocton Priory are the remains of a medieval monastery on Abbey Hill with visible earthworks and raised ground areas. The foundations of the former monastic church are still discernible beneath grass and soil today.
Robert Darcy founded the priory during King Stephen's reign, and it operated until 1536. That year, Henry VIII ordered the dissolution of monasteries across England.
The fishponds here show how monks produced their own food and managed the land carefully. These water basins were central to daily life within the religious community.
The site lies about 750 meters northeast of Nocton Wood Houses and is freely accessible. The earthworks are clearly visible, making the ground easy to explore.
After the dissolution, Sir Henry Stanley converted the monastery ruins into a house in 1569. This building was later abandoned and eventually demolished.
