The Palace Theatre on Green Street features red sandstone construction, an asymmetrical frontage, and a 110-foot clock tower commemorating Prince Albert.
The building opened in 1863 as a corn exchange designed by James Ingram, later transforming into a music hall in 1903 and cinema in the 1920s.
The theatre maintains its position as a regional entertainment center, presenting performances ranging from comedy shows and concerts to theatrical productions throughout the year.

In 1973, the glam rock band The Sweet created their hit song 'Ballroom Blitz' following an incident during their performance at the venue's Grand Hall.
