St Augustine's Tower, Medieval church tower in Hackney, England

The four-stage stone tower rises above St John's Church Gardens, featuring diagonal buttressing and a restored parapet at its summit.

Built around 1550 as part of St Augustine's Church, the structure remained standing when the original church was demolished in 1798.

The tower represents a central element in Hackney's coat of arms and served as a symbol on military badges during World War I.

Visitors can access the tower on the last Sunday of each month between 2:00 PM and 4:30 PM, except during December.

The tower houses a functioning 16th-century turret clock, recognized by Greenwich Royal Observatory as one of England's oldest timepieces.
