Solomon's Temple, Buxton, Victorian folly in Grin Low Hill, Buxton, England.
Solomon's Temple is a stone tower standing at the summit of Grin Low Hill, rising prominently above the surrounding woodland. The structure commands views across the Peak District and the town below from its hilltop location.
The tower was built in 1896 to replace an earlier structure on the site. The ground beneath it is a Bronze Age burial mound, confirmed by archaeological discoveries made during excavation.
The Grade II listed structure marks the transformation of former limestone quarries into the current woodland park through the Duke of Devonshire's conservation efforts.
Marked woodland trails lead from the visitor centre to the tower, with the shortest route taking around 20 minutes on foot. Different pathways offer varying difficulty levels through the forested area.
The tower stands where limestone quarries once operated before the land was transformed into a woodland park. This site demonstrates how former industrial areas can be returned to nature.
