Denham Film Studios, Film studio in Denham, England.
Denham Film Studios is a former film production site in the village of Denham in Buckinghamshire. The Art Deco main building still stands today as a listed structure, while the surrounding grounds have been transformed into Broadwater Park.
Alexander Korda founded the site in 1936 as the largest film studio in Britain, greatly expanding national production capacity. From the 1950s onward, the grounds shifted to a recording center for film music before operations ended in the 1980s.
The complex served as a center for British film production during the 1930s and 1940s, creating works now regarded as classics. Directors and actors from across Europe worked side by side here, turning the grounds into a meeting place for international talent.
The preserved main building can be viewed from the outside, while the park with walking paths surrounds the former studio grounds. A visit is worthwhile to explore the architecture and surroundings, especially on quieter weekdays.
Between the 1950s and 1970s, scores for well-known Hollywood films were recorded here, including soundtracks that later became famous worldwide. Composers and orchestras traveled specially to Denham to use the acoustics of the large recording rooms.
