St Andrew's Church, Redbourne

St Andrew's Church, Redbourne, Gothic parish church in Redbourne, England.

St Andrew's Church, Redbourne is a limestone parish church featuring a three-bay nave with clerestory windows, north and south aisles, and a four-stage west tower. The building combines architectural elements from different periods and displays the typical layout of an English parish church.

The church was built in 1350 and underwent major rebuilding in the 1770s by William and Thomas Lumby of Lincoln, who added new north and south chapels. These renovations enlarged the interior space and modernized the structure for the centuries ahead.

The east window displays painted glass by William Collins from 1840, showing The Opening of the Sixth Seal inspired by Francis Danby's vision of the Last Judgment. This artwork is one of the few original glass pieces remaining from that period inside the church and catches the eye when light shines through it.

Access to the church requires coordination with the local key holder since the doors are normally locked. The nearest railway station at Kirton Linsdey is nearby and offers convenient public transport access.

The south chapel was transformed into a mausoleum for the Dukes of St Albans and contains monuments from the 18th and 19th centuries with ducal hatchments. These aristocratic burial sites make the chapel a rare example of a noble family crypt within a parish church.
