St Peter's Church, Oughtrington, Gothic Revival church in Oughtrington, Lymm, England
St Peter's Church is a Gothic Revival building in Oughtrington, Lymm, built from grey snecked rubble sandstone with slate roofs. The interior contains a five-bay nave with a clerestory, north and south aisles, and an apsidal chancel that forms the main worship space.
Built between 1871 and 1872 with funding from C. G. Dewhurst, the church served a growing local community. In 1881 it became a separate parish, establishing its own religious independence from St Mary's Church in Lymm.
The interior stained glass created by Kempe in 1894 and works by A. K. Nicholson from 1907 reflect the craftsmanship of their era and shape how light fills the space. Visitors notice how these windows influence the overall feel of the interior.
The church sits near Stage Lane and is within walking distance of the village center. Visitors should check opening times before planning a visit, as services and private events may restrict general access at certain times.
The square tower transforms at its upper section into an octagonal bell tower with pinnacles topped by a tall spire visible from across the region. This distinctive profile makes the building recognizable from several kilometers away.
