Aigas Field Centre, Nature center in Highland, Scotland.
Aigas Field Centre is an environmental education facility on an estate in the Scottish Highlands with Victorian buildings and grounds overlooking the River Beauly. The property offers courses, on-site accommodation, and meals prepared in its own kitchen.
The mansion was built in 1877 by Glasgow shipping magnates and later fell into disrepair before being converted to an environmental education center in 1976. This transformation preserved the structure and gave it a new purpose focused on conservation.
The center teaches both local school groups and international visitors about Highland ecosystems through hands-on learning programs. These courses blend classroom instruction with direct observation in natural settings.
The facility is located about 30 minutes from Inverness by car and easily accessible by road. Visitors need to book courses and accommodation in advance as spaces are limited.
The grounds are home to several rare Scottish species including white-tailed eagles, golden eagles, and capercaillie grouse that visitors may observe. These species are difficult to see elsewhere in Britain.
