The Garage, London, Music venue in Highbury, London, England
The Garage is a music venue in Highbury with a main room designed for around 600 people and a separate upstairs space called Grace holding approximately 150 guests. Both rooms have been updated with modern sound and lighting systems following a 2017 renovation.
The venue opened in 1993, converting a former billiards hall that once served the Temperance movement and was popular with the Highbury Mob. Pulp performed as the first major band to play there in 1994, launching what would become a strong tradition of live music.
The venue takes its name from a neighboring car repair workshop and has become a gathering place for music lovers from across the city. People come here to experience live performances and feel connected to a thriving local music community.
The venue sits close to Highbury & Islington station, making it straightforward to reach by public transport. Since it hosts events regularly, checking what is scheduled ahead of your visit helps you plan accordingly.
The building was originally a billiards hall where local groups gathered before becoming a music stage. This transformation from a quiet social club to a rock concert venue reflects how the Highbury neighborhood evolved over time.
