Tottenham High Cross, Grade II listed monument in North London, England
The Tottenham High Cross features an octagonal brick structure with four levels, standing prominently on Tottenham High Road at a notable elevation point.
Dean Owen Wood constructed the brick cross between 1600 and 1609, replacing an earlier wooden wayside cross that dated back to 1409 on this location.
The monument received Gothic style ornamental additions in 1809 through funding from local Tottenham residents, demonstrating early community preservation efforts.
Situated along the former Ermine Street, the cross marks the original center of Tottenham Village and serves as a navigation reference for the area.
The cross stands on a natural summit along the historic Roman road, now Tottenham High Road, marking the original heart of the medieval settlement.
