The Northern Glass Cone rises 79 feet high with an octagonal base and arched entrances, constructed from bricks in English Bond formation.
Lady Frances Erskine established the Alloa Glass Works in 1750, bringing craftsmen from Bohemia to train workers and construct the first glass cone.
The structure represents Scottish industrial development, standing as the last remaining glass cone in Scotland and one of four preserved in the United Kingdom.
The glass cone contained a central furnace, peripheral heating units, and a circular platform where workers produced glassware using coal-burning techniques.
The Northern Glass Cone received scheduled monument status in 1975, marking its national importance among Clackmannanshire's seventeen protected ancient structures.
