Pollokshields Library

Pollokshields Library is an Edwardian Baroque building on Leslie Street with ornate stonework and symmetrical design elements across its facade. The library provides books, magazines, free internet access, and study spaces for public use.

Thomas Gilmour designed the building under the supervision of City Engineer Alexander B. McDonald, with Sir John Stirling Maxwell opening it in February 1907. The project was part of early 20th-century development in south Glasgow.

The library holds collections in English and Urdu, reflecting how the neighborhood is home to people from Pakistan, India, and Sri Lanka. You can see this diversity in the books on the shelves and how locals use the space as a community gathering place.
